Maegan and Leo's Adventures!

African Honeymoon

In November 2009, we took our honeymoon in Africa.  We spent the first two weeks in Ethiopia and then flew to Tanzania.

Volunteer work in Ethiopia

For the first part of our honeymoon, we did volunteer work in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. We helped a Seattle-based NGO, Blue Nile Children's Organization (BNCO) to open a community health clinic to serve the poor of suburban Addis, especially orphaned children sponsored by the group. Maegan led a group of mostly American physicians and nurses to work in the clinic and share knowledge with local providers. Leo made himself useful by constructing shelves and helping with general logistics of finishing the facility. It was definitely work, but it was also really fun -- getting to know the other docs, solving problems, getting deep inside the culture. More at http://bluenilemissions.blogspot.com/ .

See lots of Leo's photos or Maegan's photos.

Safari in Tanzania

For the second part of our honeymoon, we flew to Kilimanjaro airport in northern Tanzania and went on a photo safari.  We also wrote a book about it!  (It's a children's book with an average of about 10 words per page.)

Again, you can see lots of Leo's photos or Maegan's photos.

What do you think?

Where should we go next?
